Price of kerosene soared by 3.28 per cent in August

The National Bureau of Statistics (NBS) has said the average price per litre paid by consumers for National Household Kerosene increased by 3.28 per cent month-on-month and by 7.41 per cent year-on-year to N346.53 in August 2020 from N335.54 in July 2020.

According to its report titled: “National Household Kerosene Price Watch – August 2020,” States with the lowest average price per litre of kerosene were Bayelsa (N257.78), Zamfara (N285.56) and

Kebbi (N292.26).

The report, which was posted on the Bureau’s website, said States with the highest average price per gallon of kerosene were Ekiti (N1, 387.89); Borno (N1, 383.33) and Plateau (N1,354.55).

States with the lowest average price per gallon of kerosene were Osun (N987.50), Anambra N1,068.33) and Delta (N1,095.80).

It added that average price per gallon paid by consumers for National Household Kerosene increased by 0.92 per cent month-on-month and by 0.66 per cent year-on-year to N1,218.48 in August 2020 from N1,207.43 in July 2020.

States with the highest average price per litre of kerosene were Ebonyi (N397.62); Enugu (N395.87) and Borno (N393.61).

Similarly, the NBS in another report titled “Premium Motor Spirit (Petrol) Price Watch – August 2020” said States with the highest average price of premium motor spirit (petrol) were Taraba (N153.67), Kebbi (N153.65) and Abia (N152.00).

According to the report, the average price paid by consumers for premium motor spirit (petrol) increased by 2.26 per cent year-on-year and month-on-month by 3.59 per cent to N148.78 in August 2020 from N143.63 in July 2020.

NBS said states with the lowest average price of premium motor spirit (petrol) were Jigawa (N143.41), Niger (N143.90) and Sokoto (N145.00).

Meanwhile, the NBS said States with the highest average price for the refilling of a 12.5kg cylinder for Liquefied Petroleum Gas (Cooking Gas) were Akwa Ibom (N4,622.50), Cross River (N4,567.50) and Bayelsa (N4,544.44).

In another report “Liquefied Petroleum Gas (Cooking Gas) Price Watch – August 2020”, said.

Similarly, the average price for the refilling of a 12.5kg cylinder for Liquefied Petroleum Gas (Cooking Gas) increased by 0.24 per cent month-on-month and decreased by -2.04 per cent year-on-year to N4,136.80 in August 2020 from N4,126.82 in July 2020.

The report said the average price for the refilling of a 5kg cylinder for Liquefied Petroleum Gas (Cooking Gas) increased by

0.40% month-on-month and decreased by -1.06% year-on-year to N1979.15 in August 2020 from

N1971.34 in July 2020.

(Cooking Gas) were Imo (N1,672.22), Enugu (N1,700.00) and Jigawa (N1,704.55).

States with the highest average price for the refilling of a 5kg cylinder for Liquefied Petroleum Gas (Cooking Gas) were Bauchi (N2,489.60), Adamawa (N2,402.27) and Borno (N2,397.77).

States with the lowest average price for the refilling of a 12.5kg cylinder for Liquefied Petroleum Gas

(Cooking Gas) were Kano (N3,732.53), Oyo (N3,778.47) and Zamfara (N3,781.09).”
