A woman, Mrs Talatu Idris, who escaped from a quarantine centre in Taraba State last week, has been apprehended. She was returned to the isolation facility in Jalingo, Commissioner of Health Innocent Vakai disclosed on Monday.

Vakkai, who chairs the Task Force on Covid-19 in the State, said the fleeing woman tested positive to the pandemic.

He explained that Mrs Idris was among the seven other positive cases who were being treated.

Vakkai, alongside the Commissioner of Information Danjuma Adamu and officials of the Nigeria Centre for Disease Control (NCDC), briefed reporters in Jalingo.

The Health Commissioner explained that the state government has commenced “Contact Tracing” to curtail the spread of the pandemic in the state.

Also, the state government has rejected 100 Quranic education pupils, popularly called almajiri, who were sent packing from Nasarawa State.

The pupils were taken to the state following an agreement by northern states’ governors that they be returned to their states of origin as part of measures to save vulnerable groups from the Coronavirus pandemic.

Chairman of the Taraba COVID-19 Technical Committee, Dr Innocent Vakai, stated this yesterday while addressing reporters in Jalingo.
