The Kano State Ministry of Health Task Force Committee on Counterfeit, Fake, Substandard Drugs and Unwholesome Processed Foods has confiscated expired drugs worth N6.4million at Enugu Road, Sabon Gari, Kano.
The committee also intercepted 24 cartons of expired drugs and two cartons of expired biscuits valued at over N1million at Muhammadu Abubakar Rimi market.
This is contained in a statement by the Ministry’s Public Relations Officer, Mrs Hadiza Namad in Kano on Thursday.
According to the statement, the Commissioner of Health, Dr Aminu Ibrahim Tsanyawa, commended the Task Force for its determination to rid the state of counterfeit, fake drugs and unwholesome processed foods.
The statement quoted Tsanyawa as pledging full support of the government for the success of the very important assignment, noting that if the items were not intercepted, they would have been subsequently consumed by the unsuspecting public leading to severe health consequences.
The Commissioner also urged the general public to complement the efforts of the government by supplying useful information to the committee.
