Three persons were killed on Monday, while three others were injured in an auto crash on the old Oyo-Ibadan Road.

It was gathered that two vehicles, a truck and a Micra taxi, were involved in the crash in the Funduk area of Moniya, Ibadan, the Oyo State capital.

An eyewitness, who spoke on condition of anonymity, said, “Some people lost their lives in the tragic incident. The accident involved a truck and a Micra taxi in the Funduk area of Moniya, after the Akingbile Estate, along the Old Oyo-Ibadan Road.”

The Sector Commander, Oyo State, Federal Road Safety Corps, Mrs Uche Chukwurah, who confirmed the crash, said eight persons were involved, with three losing their lives, while three others sustained varying degrees of injury.

She stated, “Yes, there was an accident and our men were drafted to the scene. The total number of persons involved were eight. Three females sustained injuries, while two males and a female died.

“My candid advice to members of the public, especially this season, is that road users should be more careful. Motorists should drive carefully, be patient and avoid excessive speed.”
