Worried by the fire that gutted the office of the Accountant General of the Federation (AGF), Lagos State chapter of Labour Party and Comrade Timi Frank, former deputy national publicity secretary of All Progressives Congress (APC) have called for probe.
Frank had wondered where the fire would have come from, since there had been total lockdown in Abuja, insisting that a thorough probe must be carried out urgently.
The former APC chieftain had stated in his Twitter handle, “Since there is total lockdown in Abuja, what could have been responsible for the fire outbreak at the office of the Accountant general of the federation. Let them ensure that no vital document was burnt, even as I call for a thorough probe”
Prince Ifagbemu Awamaridi, Lagos State chairman of Labour Party and governorship candidate of the party in the last general elections, told Daily Independent on Wednesday that it was very clear that some people set the office on fire to cover up some corrupt deeds. He lamented that vital documents must have been destroyed.
While calling for a probe, Ifagbemu regretted that it was unfortunate that various panels set up in future in the country had never yielded any positive result.
“How would anything positive come out from a probe when, the government that sets up the probe would include a culprit as a member of the panel. The fight against COVID-19 has been turned into money making venture by some persons. This is unfortunately the kind of country we find ourselves” he said.
