A trader, Rashidat Adeleke, has been arraigned before the Lagos State Magistrates’ Court in Yaba, Lagos State, for allegedly pouring hot water on her salesgirl, Bukola Akinola.

It was reported that the 50-year-old trader, who owned a supermarket on Ayodele Ogunkoya Street, Governor’s Road, in the Ikotun area of the state, allegedly scalded the victim due to the destruction of some goods in her shop.

The police arraigned her before Magistrate Omobola Salau on two counts bordering on conspiracy and assault, contrary to sections 411 and 173 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State 2015.

The police had earlier arraigned her surety, 70-year-old Awoniyi Fatoki, due to the absence of the trader in court on June 24, 2021.

The magistrate also pronounced a verdict of N1m on the surety for the absence of the defendant in court for trial.

However, after the arraignment of the trader, the magistrate allowed Adeleke to continue with the administrative bail granted to her by the police and adjourned the matter till August 2, 2021, for mention.
