No fewer than 12 persons have been killed in an auto crash along Otukpo-Adoka Road in Benue State.

The accident, which happened on Tuesday, involved an articulated truck and an Abuja-bound commercial vehicle.

Since the near completion of Oweto bridge, most vehicles from the Eastern part of the country and Benue South senatorial district, ply the Otukpo-Adoka-Oweto Road to Abuja.

The Tuesday crash, according to an eyewitness, occurred in Ogodumu along Otukpo-Adoka Road in Benue State.

The witness, who identified himself simply as Sunday, said the articulated truck, which lost control, rammed into the fully-loaded bus going to Abuja and killed 13 people.

Sunday said, “No one knew where the bus was coming from. But the accident happened around 10.45am on Tuesday.

“Among the deceased were a mother and her three kids between the ages of three, five and seven, who were traveling on the bus.

“Only few persons survived the accident.”

The state Sector Commander of the Federal Road Safety Corps, Mohammed Suleiman, who confirmed the accident, said 12 people were killed and six injured.
