A 23-year-old 100-level student at Osun State University, Ikire Campus, Juba Orisajafor has died after ingesting a toxic substance. He however died on Tuesday hours after preaching against suicide on WhatsApp.
His message on WhatsApp read: “Often times I wonder why do people kill themselves? Maybe because they don’t have anyone to encourage, motivate or guide them or because they felt there was no solution to the problem they were going through. Perhaps they have forgotten that there is more to be enjoyed when life (hope) is not lost.
According to report a colleague saw him lying unconscious outside his hostel around 6:30 p.m. after taking a bottle of Sniper, an insecticide. Then later the Police spokeswoman Yemisi Opalola confirmed the incident.
“We visited the scene where the victim was lying unconscious and later confirmed dead by a doctor at Oluyoro Apomu Catholic Hospital. An empty Sniper bottle was recovered and the deceased's body was taken to the morgue for an autopsy, ”she said.
University spokesman Adesoji Ademola said they had not yet determined the reason for Orisajafor's action.
