Osun State government has condemned the attempt to connect it and the ruling Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, in the state with an arrested person being investigated by the police, saying it had no hand in any criminality purportedly happening in the state.
The government said it detests any act of criminality in its entirety by anyone, no matter the name, colour or race.
In a release signed by the Senior Special Assistant to Osun State Governor, Oladele Bamiji, the, Government promised its support to law enforcement agencies to clean up the state of all forms of criminality and make the state a safe abode for law abiding citizens.
It remarked that it is not unaware of the enormity of potential security challenge posed by remnants of armed groups instituted and nurtured by the past administration in the state, especially towards the July 16 2022 governorship election, which encouraged arms proliferation across the state.
It pointed out the armed groups, which began and got emboldened with their formal recognition by the past administration as ‘State Boys” got polarized in the course of frictions within the defeated government and the party, are mere offshoot of that reckless government which the present administration is already collaborating with security operatives to get them disarmed and demobilized from such act within the ambit of the law and for the good of all and sundry.
While condemning the past government’s support for the dastardly groups, the release explained that It is interesting to note that all individuals being profiled for one crime or the other in Osun State today are graduates of opposition party’s school of cultism and thuggery.
The statement added that it is sad that many of these elements were thrown off the bus by the party after using them for various forms of crimes, especially during election periods, thereby leaving the state at their mercy.
